WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson hopes to see snooker growing in the Middle East at all levels as he looks ahead to the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters which starts on Friday.

In collaboration with the Saudi Arabian Billiard & Snooker Federation and under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport, the 2025 Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters will take place from August 8–16 at Green Halls, Jeddah. This blockbuster tournament, with a field of 144 players, has quickly become established as the sport’s Fourth Major alongside the historic Triple Crown events

“This is part of a long term strategy to grow the sport globally,” said Ferguson. “The Middle East is such an important area for snooker. This event is the springboard to help the sport develop further, thanks to the Ministry of Sport for their support.

“We are pulling together to create events of this standard which inspire players in the region. In China, the big events inspired a whole nation and now they have the World Champion. The same thing can happen all around the world. The event is one thing, and the work that goes on to underpin it is very important, ensuring that the infrastructure is there for regular activity. The opportunities are there in this sport for everyone. We are proud to be operating in the Middle East and we want to see stars coming through.”
