China’s He Guoqiang joined the World Snooker Tour for the first time in 2023 after successfully qualifying from Asia-Oceania Q School.

He won six matches in all, culminating in a 4-3 victory against former professional Wang Yuchen in the final round to secure his place.

The Chinese player made a positive start to life of the World Snooker Tour, reaching the last 16 stage of both the English Open and Wuhan Open as well as reaching a maiden ranking event quarter-final at the 2023 British Open with victories against Muhammad Asif, Oliver Lines, Barry Hawkins.

At the 2024 World Championship, He registered impressive victories over Ross Muir and Anthony McGill to reach the final qualifying round before losing out to veteran Welshman Dominic Dale.

Following a successful debut season that saw He move up to 66th in the world rankings, he was awarded the ‘Rookie of the Year’ at the 2024 WST Awards.
