China’s Xu Si made the first maximum break of his career during his match against Ma Hailong in the second qualifying round of the MrQ UK Championship on Sunday night.
Xu’s break came in the second frame and put him 2-0 ahead as he potted all 15 reds with blacks and added the colours, surpassing his previous career top break of 145. World number 61 Xu has been a pro since 2017.
The maximum puts him in line for the £15,000 tournament high break prize and also means he is just one more 147 away from a massive £147,000 bonus. As announced last week, any player making two maximums in this season’s Triple Crown Series will earn the cash windfall.
It’s the fourth 147 of the season and 193rd in snooker history.
