It has today been announced that Tian Pengfei has been co-opted to join the Board of WPBSA Players with immediate effect.

Having initially turned professional in 2006, the 37-year-old has risen to as high as 41st position in the world rankings and reached his maiden ranking event semi-final at the 2023 Welsh Open.

As an ever-present on the World Snooker Tour since 2011, Tian’s input and own personal experience as a player from China will help to ensure that the many players from outside of the UK are represented and supported during their time as professional players.

Tian Pengfei said: “l am very pleased and honoured to join the WPBSA Players Board. During my time as a professional player, l have already witnessed many new young players come to the UK from around the world and enjoy success on the World Snooker Tour. I hope to use the benefit of my experience to help these and the next generation of players to be able to make the most of their time as professional snooker players.

“I am also on the Players Board in China and am looking forward to working closely with both the CBSA and WPBSA Players in the future.”

Tian will serve on the Board until the next WPBSA Players AGM later in the year, where his position will be subject to confirmation by the WPBSA membership.
