David Causier defeated Peter Gilchrist 802-174 to win the 2025 World Billiards Belgian Open in Bruges, Belgium.

The Englishman added yet another trophy to his growing collection as he came through a field of 40 players at The Trickshot Snooker Club in Bruges.

A level 3 world ranking event, the 2025 Belgian Open took place on the weekend of 17-18 May and made up the first part of a double-header of events which also sees the 2025 European Open staged at the same venue.

Causier made a strong start to the weekend with an utterly dominant group stage performance that saw him sweep aside Daniel Locke, Joost Maertens and Jan Danneels with a top break of 512 and an aggregate scoreline of 2,452-81.

Knockout stage victories over Austria’s Martin Schmidt and fellow countryman Chris Coumbe saw Causier book his place in the last four.

England’s Martin Goodwill was his semi-final opponent and proved to be the toughest opposition of the weekend but, in a low-scoring contest, Causier was able to advance as a 372-336 victor.

Causier faced fellow former world champion Gilchrist in the title match and breaks of 288, 257 and 130 helped him to a comfortable victory to secure the title in Belgium.

The European Open takes place at the Trickshot Club in Bruges, Belgium on 19-21 May.
