Vinnie Calabrese defeated Shaun Dalitz 5-1 in the final of the fifth WPBSA Q Tour Asia-Pacific event at the Redcliffe Snooker Club in Redcliffe, Australia.
The 37-year-old former professional has now won four of the five Q Tour Asia-Pacific events staged during the 2024/25 campaign and ends the season at the top of the series ranking list to earn an invitation to the Q Tour Global Play-Offs in March.
Known as the Dr Clem AO Qld Open Snooker Championship, the event saw 66 cueists from four nations in the region competing for glory in Redcliffe.
Calabrese began at the last 32 stage and dropped just three frames as he overcame Dennis Chan (3-0), Daniell Haenga (4-1) and Deepakh Bala (4-2) to secure a place in the last four.
The top ranked player on the Q Tour Asia-Pacific ranking list then faced fellow countryman Xavier Daw in the semi-finals and began with a break of 59, before following this up with an outstanding total clearance of 141 to double his advantage.
Calabrese quickly wrapped up the whitewash victory to earn his place in a fourth Q Tour final of the season where he would face Australia’s Dalitz.
Dalitz had come through a deciding frame in a hard-fought semi-final contest against England’s Paul Norris but was quickly outclassed by the power scoring of Calabrese in the title match.
The former professional opened with a break of 127 and hit three further half-centuries to open up a 4-0 lead in the best-of-nine frame contest.
Dalitz showed what he can do in the fifth by compiling a break of 97, but it proved to be too late as Calabrese took the next to get over the line and lift his fourth Q Tour title of the season.
The WPBSA Q Tour Global Play-Offs, where World Snooker Tour (WST) tour cards will be on offer, take place in Antalya, Turkey on 11-13 March.
