Situated in the busy Hanover area of Brighton, The Annunciation Snooker Club has been in operation for over 70 years, and as a part of the local community welcomes anyone regardless of age, ability or gender. Last year the club registered its first female member.
With three well-maintained snooker tables, it offers a very competitive rate for play and membership.
The club is currently run by a committee of eight volunteers, comprising secretary, chairman and treasurer. In line with EPSB recommendations, the club recently appointed a Welfare Officer, as part of a drive to attract more youngsters to the club.
The premises are part of the Church of the Annunciation, our landlord. Revenue is generated solely through an annual membership fee, and table time.
The Annunciation doesn’t have a licence to serve food or alcohol, though we do have a well-stocked fridge with soft drinks, bottled water and snacks. There are also coffee and tea making facilities. Some members bring their own drinks.
The club has one billiards and three snooker teams competing in the Brighton Hove & District Billiards & Snooker League from September through to May.
Annually in June is the start of the Annunciation In-House Club Competitions, for members only. There are two billiards tournaments and two snooker tournaments, both Handicap and Open. The winners of these competitions get to have their names etched on the Honours Board.
