The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has today announced that Mark Davis has joined its Governance Board as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

An ever-present on the professional World Snooker Tour since 1991, Davis replaces Nigel Bond as one of two player directors on the Governance Board, after Bond stepped down from the role at December’s Annual General Meeting.

The former world number 12 reached his only world ranking final at the 2018 English Open narrowly losing out to compatriot Stuart Bingham and is also a three-time winner of the 6-Red World Championship, most recently in 2013.

A former World Seniors Championship winner back in 2016, Davis has enjoyed a long career on the World Snooker Tour and continues to perform to a high standard, currently ranked 52nd.

Jason Ferguson, WPBSA Chairman said: “We are pleased to welcome Mark to the WPBSA Governance Board as one of the most experienced players currently competing on the professional circuit.

“Mark has given great service to the World Snooker Tour over the past 30 years, and I have no doubt that his vast experience will only be an asset to the Board as we move into what promises to be another hugely exciting year for our sport.”

Mark Davis said: “I am excited to be able to be able to take up this position on the Board of WPBSA Governance.

“Since joining the Board of WPBSA Players in December 2023 I have enjoyed working with the team to represent the membership and to provide a voice for player issues. I look forward to continuing to do so as part of this new role moving forwards.”
