Former professional Patrick Delsemme has sadly passed away at the age of 48.

The Belgian cueman played seven seasons on the main tour up until 2001. His last pro tournament was the 2001 World Championship where he beat Gerard Greene and Alfie Burden to reach the final qualifying round, before being denied a place at the Crucible by Quinten Hann.

Delsemme was a promising amateur player and twice reached the final of the World Under-21 Championship; in 1991 he was runner-up to Ronnie O’Sullivan and the following year he lost to Robin Hull. He won his national championship on multiple occasions and made a 147 at an amateur event in Belgium in 2010.

WST and WPBSA send our sincere condolences to Patrick’s family and friends.
