Rotherham’s Ashley Carty successfully qualified for the Crucible stages of the World Championship for the first time in 2020 following victories against Ross Muir, Jimmy Robertson and Robert Milkins, before defeat to Stuart Bingham 10-7 on his debut.

He previously joined the World Snooker Tour for the first time in May 2018 by qualifying from Q School Event 3, having also competed in several events as an amateur top up players previously.

His breakthrough event as a professional came at the 2020 Championship League, where he defeated world number two Neil Robertson and Ken Doherty on television to progress to the second phase of the event.

Amateur Career

At amateur level his achievements include a run to the final of the EBSA European Under-21 Championship in 2013, losing to James Cahill.

In March 2023, Carty defeated Florian Nuessle 5-2 to win the WPBSA Q Tour Play-Off and regain a place on the World Snooker Tour, following relegation a year earlier.
