From Tyne & Wear, David Lilley turned professional for the first time in May 2019 having successfully come through Q School Event 1.
A three-time winner of the English Amateur Championship (1997, 1999 & 2004), Lilley has been an established amateur player for several years, also having won the EBSA European Championship in 1995 and twice finished as runner-up at the World Amateur Championship.
His best performance at a main tour ranking event came at the 2016 Indian Open where competing as an amateur he defeated players including former world champion Mark Williams to reach the quarter-finals, ultimately losing 4-2 to Shaun Murphy.
He previously worked in the insurance industry, but in September 2018 took the decision to quit his long-term job in order to commit himself to snooker.
