Thailand’s Dechawat Poomjaeng returned to the World Snooker Tour for the first time in five years in 2022 by coming through the second event of the Asia-Oceania Q School in Bangkok.
Previously a professional from 2011-2017, the popular Thai is perhaps best known for his run to the last 16 of the 2013 World Championship, which saw him win four matches to qualify for the Crucible Theatre. There he defeated Scotland’s Stephen Maguire 10-9, before losing 13-3 to Michael White in the second round.
Later that year, Poomjaeng compiled his first maximum break against Zak Surety at the German Masters qualifiers.
In 2023, Poomjaeng reached the last 16 stage of a ranking event for the fourth time – and first in seven years – at the Shoot Out following wins against Si Jiahui, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and Mark Williams, before his run was ended by Liam Highfield.
