Poland’s Mateusz Baranowski defeated Patrick Whelan 4-2 in the final round of the 2025 Q School to earn a two-year World Snooker Tour (WST) tour card starting from the 2025/26 season.
A five-time Polish national champion, Baranowski reached the semi-finals of the World Snooker Federation (WSF) Championship earlier in 2025 before losing to Malta’s Brian Cini.
His success at the most prestigious event in amateur snooker earned Baranowski an invite to compete in the 2025 World Championship qualifiers where he fell in the opening round to Amir Sarkhosh.
The best run of his debut season on tour saw him reach the last 32 of the Xi’an Grand Prix with victories over Liu Hongyu and Zhang Hao. In April 2026, he earned a maiden victory in the World Championship by defeating Florian Nuessle 10-5 in the opening qualifying round before losing out to Ricky Walden.
