Michael Georgiou became the first Cypriot player to win a world ranking event at the 2018 Shoot Out with victory against Graeme Dott in the final.
An ever-present on the World Snooker Tour since 2014, having first turned professional for a single season in 2008, London-born Georgiou has represented Cyprus since 2016 and achieved a career-high ranking to date of 46th in May 2019.
Aside from his Shoot Out triumph his best performance to date was a quarter-final run at the 2020 German Masters in Berlin. He also made his first official maximum break on German soil at the Paul Hunter Classic in 2018 as he broke into the world’s top 50 for the first time.
In 2019 he qualified for the final stages of the World Championship at the Crucible Theatre, losing 10-1 to Neil Robertson.
At amateur level he is also a former world under-21 champion.
