Bio

Yuan Sijun reached his first ranking event semi-final at the age of just 18 at the 2019 Gibraltar Open.

He defeated Sanderson Lam, James Cahill, Sean O’Sullivan, Gary Wilson and Robert Milkins to reach the last four, losing out to eventual champion Stuart Bingham.

A professional since 2017, Yuan had already gained a reputation as a player of potential having competed in several tournaments as a wildcard entry, notably defeating Martin Gould 5-0 at the 2016 China Open at the age of just 15.

He has reached the quarter-finals of a further four ranking event tournaments and is a former winner of the Asian Under-21 Championship (2017).

Having suffered tour relegation at the end of the 2020/21 season, Yuan immediately regained his place at Q School in June 2021 following a 4-2 success against Mitchell Mann.
