If you love snooker and Ronnie O’Sullivan then get behind our sport and the World Champion tonight by voting for him in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year show.

O’Sullivan has been nominated for the prestigious award for the first time in his career, on a shortlist of six alongside Lewis Hamilton, Hollie Doyle, Jordan Henderson, Tyson Fury and Stuart Broad.

The show runs from 8pm to 10pm tonight (Sunday) on BBC One. Here’s how to vote:

The numbers for phone voting will be shown during the live show, but only phone once voting has opened.

You can also vote online – for details click here.

The winner of the combined phone and online vote will be announced during the show.

O’Sullivan won the world title for the sixth time this year, bringing his tally of Crucible crowns to six. He has won a record 37 ranking titles, 20 Triple Crown events and has made more centuries and 147s than any other player.

Fellow legend Stephen Hendry told the Sun: “I think he’s got a great chance of winning, we all know how popular Ronnie is. People love watching him because you don’t know what’s going to happen next.

“He crosses the boundaries of all sports. He will talk to people in the street and I don’t see many snooker players do that these days. When you look at other sports there are people that stand out, and Ronnie stands out in snooker. Other players watch him. In football you have Lionel Messi and other players probably watch him. He just stands out because of his talent. And Ronnie does that in snooker.

“It was special for me when I was nominated and I still think it’s a big deal now. When I was nominated there were a few remarks from people that I had no personality, my nomination was just based on what I had won. But Ronnie is the full package.”
