Following the 2015 International Championship, the official world rankings list has been updated and will be used as the basis for seeding players for the upcoming Betway UK Championship later this month.

As reward for winning his 28th career ranking event title, the £125,000 top prize is enough to see John Higgins climb back inside the world’s top eight for the first time in two years in seventh position.

Runner-up David Gilbert takes home £65,000 and rises 19 positions to a new career-high ranking of 21st, comfortably inside the top 32 which theoretically will help him in respect of future tournament seedings.

Joining Gilbert back inside the top 32 is 28-year-old Ben Woollaston, who enjoyed good runs both at the Haining Open and International Championship to rise to 30th, while Peter Ebdon and Xiao Guodong are the two to make way.

Further down the ranking list there have also been significant moves in respect of the top 64 positions, with Tian Pengfei and Zhou Yuelong both rising following strong recent performances.

Dropping out are Anthony Hamilton and Peter Lines, although Hamilton will still be seeded as a top 64 player at the Betway UK Championship following Ronnie O’Sullivan’s decision not to take up the defence of the title that he won 12 months ago at the Barbican Centre, York.

The seedings list will next be revised following the Betway UK Championship next month, when the 16 players to compete at January’s Dafabet Masters will be decided.
