The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) has today (11 December 2024) held its Annual General Meeting during the BetVictor Scottish Open in Edinburgh.
The AGM saw the presentation of the Accounts and Directors Report, including the latest independently audited accounts for both WPBSA Governance and WPBSA Players, to the members, which were unanimously accepted by the meeting.
It was announced at the meeting that Nigel Bond is to step down as a Director of WPBSA Players. He will also step down from his role as a Director of the WPBSA Governance Board.
Ben Woollaston stood unopposed for election to the Board of WPBSA Players and was successfully elected by the membership.
A decision will be taken by the WPBSA Players Board in due course as to who will replace Bond on the Board of WPBSA Governance.
WPBSA Governance Chairman Jason Ferguson said: “I would like to thank the membership for their continued support and engagement in the work of the WPBSA following what has been another hugely successful year for our sport.
“In addition, I would like to recognise Nigel Bond, who leaves the Governance Board, for his service to the players, and thank him for his contribution and the great experience that he has brought to the table this year.
“He has a great opportunity in front of him as he takes up the position of Head Coach at the new Ronnie O’Sullivan Snooker Academy in Riyadh, Saudia Arabia and I wish him all the best for the future.”
WPBSA Players Chairman Shaun Murphy said: “I am pleased to welcome Ben Woollaston to the Board of WPBSA Players. A former ranking event finalist, he has always been a popular player who has represented our sport with distinction, and I am confident that he will make a great addition to the Players Board.
“I would also like to thank Nigel Bond for the service he has given to the WPBSA Players Board and wish him luck in his new role.”
