Applications are open for the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA)’s second staging of the Tournament Director Course Programme.

First held in October 2023 in conjunction with the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB), the course is open to qualified EPSB referees who hold a current EPSB referee Membership.

The course is a pre-requisite for officials to act as a Tournament Director at recognised EPSB competitions and provides detailed training including:

  • The role and responsibilities of a Tournament Director
  • Tournament administration
  • How to use WPBSA SnookerScores, the official tournament management system of the WPBSA
  • Managing and supporting referees at competitions

Course Structure

The course will be delivered in two parts, with the first taking place at Manchester’s Club 200 on Saturday 8 March. This stage will be led by WPBSA Head of Coaching and Training Development Manager Chris Lovell and experienced Tournament Director James Chambers, who will provide a full overview of what is required in the role.

Part two will then see participants working alongside an experienced Tournament Director at an EPSB event, over the next 18 months.

Achievement will be via attendance and competence on both parts of the course.

The deadline for applications is Friday 22 February. To apply, please send a completed application form, along with your payment and a photo of your valid passport or driving licence to: jessica.ives@wpbsa.com

Applicants must be a currently qualified EPSB Referee member to be eligible and must also be resident in England and over the age of 18.
