David Causier defeated Peter Gilchrist 675-257 to win the World Billiards British Open at the Cue Sports Academy in Torquay, England.
Lifting the title in Torquay saw Causier, who recently won the World Billiards Championship, successfully defend the British Open title that he won 12 months ago in Manchester.
Fifty cueists contested the competition in Devon and Causier comfortably advanced from the group stage with wins against the English duo of Chris Achilles and Dale Schofield, Jersey’s Richard de la Haye and Werner Spreeuwenberg from the Netherlands.

Two century breaks helped the eventual champion past Chris Coumbe in the last 16 before further defeats of Chris Mitchell and Peter Sheehan, featuring a top contribution of 243, earned the world number one his place in the level three ranking event final.
Meeting him there was fellow former world champion Gilchrist, who had last beaten English national champion Robert Hall by a 515-166 scoreline to set up a repeat of the 2023 World Billiards Championship final.
Singapore’s Gilchrist had been successful on that day, but there was to be no repeat in Torquay as Causier scored a top break of 114 to earn the title as a 675-257 victor.
The World Billiards season continues with the UK Championship at the Landywood Snooker Club on 23-25 January 2026.
