Wu Yize is a former world ranking event semi-finalist with a career-high ranking of 37th which he achieved in October 2023.
His best performance to date came at the 2023 Wuhan Open, where he defeated Allan Taylor, Marco Fu, Ryan Day, Stephen Maguire and Aaron Hill to reach the semi-finals before losing out 6-1 to Judd Trump.
In 2023, he qualified for the televised stages of the World Championship for the first time with victories against Taylor, Tian Pengfei and Chris Wakelin. At the Crucible, he lost out 10-3 to Australia’s Neil Robertson, who notably made two breaks of 146 during the match.
The Chinese prospect burst onto the international scene at the 2019 International Championship in Daqing. Competing as a wildcard, the youngster took four-time world champion John Higgins to a deciding frame, eventually losing 6-5.
In 2020, he reached the semi-final so the WSF Junior Open in Malta, before losing out in the last eight of the main WSF Open competition a week later.
He also made his debut at the professional World Championship, securing wins against Ashley Hugill and Robbie Williams, before falling to former Masters champion Alan McManus in the third qualifying round.
Wu earned a place on the World Snooker for the first time at the 2021 CBSA Qualifiers in Beijing.
