Four-time world snooker champion Mark Selby has received his MBE at Windsor Castle in recognition of his services to snooker and charity.
The appointment was announced in June 2022 as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee Birthday Honours and follows the significant contribution that the 39-year-old has made to snooker over the past two decades, including 22 ranking title wins.

Leicester’s Selby was accompanied by his family, including wife Vikki and daughter Sofia. The former world number one was presented with his medal by the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, who revealed that she had watched the recent World Championship final at the Crucible Theatre, as Luca Brecel claimed the title for the first time with victory against Selby.
“She was just chatting to me about the snooker, saying she watches a little bit of it and watched a bit of the final as well. So it was great knowing that she follows it,” said Selby as reported by Eurosport.
“To get to the final is such a huge achievement.
“It is such a tough tournament to win over a few weeks, physically and mentally tiring, so to get back to the final after winning was a great achievement, and hopefully I can kick on from that into the new season.
“From where I’ve come from being a young lad just playing snooker, I never thought it would come to this – quite an emotional day, really.”
