The WPBSA plays a significant role in the development of snooker and billiards, through key projects aimed at highlighting and promoting the benefits of participation in the sport.
In November 2022 the WPBSA announced the publication of a new booklet showcasing the health benefits of snooker. The WPBSA teamed up with social enterprise Sport for Confidence CIC to design and publish the first Therapeutic Guide to Snooker, which demonstrates snooker’s positive contribution to physical, social and mental wellbeing.
In 2019, the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB) was awarded £7,090 by Sport England as part of a £15,000 project, as supported by the WPBSA.
The aim of the project was to support English snooker clubs to develop summer holiday sessions for young people in order to kick-start thriving, sustainable junior sections around the country.
The project followed input from clubs affiliated to the EPSB’s 147 Club – a national scheme to support snooker clubs across the country – asking for help to engage young people in their local communities.
