England’s Stan Moody secured the biggest victory of his career at the 2023 World Snooker Federation Junior Championship in Australia to earn a place on the professional circuit for the first time.
From Halifax, the youngster notably defeated former professional Iulian Boiko in the semi-finals before he saw off compatriot Liam Pullen 5-1 in the final to lift the title in Sydney.
Moody also reached the final of the open age category event in Sydney, losing out 5-0 to Ma Hai Long in the WSF Championship.
He won his first match at a professional event whilst competing as an amateur at the 2022 Shoot Out. Aged just 15, Moody recorded a 53-27 win against Lu Ning to reach the second round, before losing to Oliver Lines.
At national level, Moody is a champion at Under-18 (2022), Under-16 (2022) and Under-14 (2019 & 2020).
During his debut season on the World Snooker Tour, Moody’s best run came at the 2023 Northern Ireland Open where he defeated Zhou Yuelong, Rod Lawler and Gary Wilson to reach the last 16 before losing out to Yuan Sijun 4-2.
