Amir Sarkhosh has defeated Habib Humood 4-0 to win the first Q Tour Middle East event at the Cue Sports Academy, Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi.
Twenty-nine players from ten countries took part in the tournament held in the United Arab Emirates and eventual champion Sarkhosh defeated Khaled Yeslam, Ahmed Alhashmi and Abdulrahman Alshamsi en route to the last four.
The semi-finals took place on Monday and saw players from four different nations battling it out for the title.
A tournament high-break of 114 helped Sarkhosh on his way to a 4-1 win over UAE’s Khalid Kamali, who in the previous round had defeated former main tour professional Mohamed Shehab, to book his place in the final. Bahrain’s Humood completed the final line-up with a comfortable whitewash victory over Jordan’s Moa’ath Almajali.
Another impressive display from Sarkhosh earned him a 4-0 victory over Humood, who played on the professional tour in the 2005-06 season and is also known as Habib Subah, in Tuesday’s final to secure victory in the first ever Q Tour Middle East event.
The event is the first of three to take place in the series, all of which are being held this month.
Event two gets underway on Thursday 11 January and the player finishing top of the ranking list at the conclusion of the series will be guaranteed a place in the Q Tour Global Play-Off, where three World Snooker Tour cards will be up for grabs.
