Graeme Dott enjoyed his greatest success at the 2006 World Championship by defeating Peter Ebdon 18-14 to lift the trophy at the Crucible Theatre.
Having defeated John Parrott, Nigel Bond, Neil Robertson and Ronnie O’Sullivan in the previous rounds, Dott triumphed following an epic final with Ebdon which set a new record for the latest ever finish to a world final at 12:23am.
Dott had previously reached his first Crucible final two years prior, losing to 18-8 O’Sullivan and would contest the title match on a third occasion in 2010, this time coming out on the wrong side of a late finish 18-13 to Robertson.
He has appeared in ten ranking event finals across four decades – in 2020 becoming the first player to do so – and claimed his second ranking title at the 2007 China Open during his year as world champion with victory against Jamie Cope.
Dott has been ranked as high as number two during the 2007/08 season and has made two maximum breaks during his career.
Dott has been married to wife Elaine since 2003 with whom he has two children. Away from snooker he is a lifelong fan of Rangers F.C. and memorably took the World Championship trophy out on the pitch at Ibrox in the aftermath of his success.
