England’s Jimmy Robertson won his first ranking title at the 2018 European Masters following a 9-6 victory against Joe Perry.
Having only once reached the quarter-finals of a ranking event prior to his victory in Lommel, destiny appeared to be on Robertson’s side at the tournament as he won his first three matches of the tournament on the final black to pave the way for his breakthrough triumph.
During the 2021/22 season, Robertson reached a further two ranking event semi-finals at the British Open and Players Championship events to return to the world’s top 32, having 12 months earlier come close to losing his tour card.
A former winner of the English Amateur Championship, Robertson had two initial spells on tour in 2002/03 and 2007/8, before regaining his place in 2009, since which he has remained an ever-present.
He has qualified for the televised stages of the World Championship on five occasions, but is yet to win a match at the Crucible Theatre.
In 2013 he took the ‘Magic Moment’ at the World Snooker Awards for his 57 clearance in 131 seconds to beat Tian Pengfei at the Shoot Out.
