WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson and former World Seniors Snooker champion Lee Walker were among the guest speakers at the latest WPBSA Snooker Coaching Seminar held in York on Friday evening.

Staged at the Novotel in York on the eve of the UK Championship, the seminar was attended by WPBSA coaches who have qualified across the three levels of the WPBSA Coaching Programme.

The annual event, led by WPBSA Head of Coaching and Training Development Manager Chris Lovell, featured talks from experts on a range of snooker-related topics.

WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson was in attendance and gave an introductory welcome speech, before Level 2 coach Gavin York discussed the topic of “choking and the yips in professional snooker”

This was followed by WPBSA Player Relations Manager Neil Tomkins, who advised on the role of WPBSA Players and its current role on the World Snooker Tour (WST) and beyond.

Finally, Walker – a former professional and Level 2 coach, spoke about his experiences within the game and being the coach of three-time world champion Mark Williams – who was also in attendance on Friday evening.

Following the event, WPBSA Chairman Ferguson said: “The WPBSA Snooker Coaching Seminar on Friday evening was a hugely enjoyable and informative occasion.

The WPBSA Coaching Programme continues to go from strength to strength and it was a pleasure to have a number of our qualified coaches in attendance. I would like to thank the guest speakers for taking the time to be involved in this event.”

The WPBSA would like to thank guest speakers Jason Ferguson, Gavin York, Neil Tomkins and Lee Walker, the Novotel in York for hosting the event and all the WPBSA coaches who attended the evening.
