Sam Craigie

Bio

Newcastle’s Sam Craigie is a former German Masters semi-finalist who also finished in third place at the inaugural WST Pro Series in March 2021.

A serial winner across all age groups at national level, Craigie first turned professional for a single season at the start of the 2011/12 season, before securing his return in 2016 by successfully qualifying at the EBSA Play-Offs event.

Having again regained his tour card in 2018 via Q School, Craigie defeated Sunny Akani, Ryan Day, Ali Carter and Liang Wenbo at the 2019 China Open to reach his first ranking event quarter-final before losing to eventual champion Neil Robertson.

In 2021, he qualified for the Crucible stages of the World Championship for the first time, losing 10-4 to Mark Williams in the opening round.

His best result at a Triple Crown Series event came at the 2022 UK Championship, when he defeated the defending champion Zhao Xintong 6-2 in the opening round, followed by Ryan Day to reach the quarter-finals. He ultimately lost out 6-4 to eventual champion Mark Allen.

At the 2024 German Masters, Craigie reached a ranking event semi-final for the first time in his career by beating Sean O’Sullivan, Liam Pullen, He Guoqiang, Xu Si and Ali Carter before losing out to Judd Trump. Craigie also achieved the tournament’s joint-high break of 142.

Craigie is a former world under-21 champion (2010) and is the younger brother of Stephen Craigie, previously a main tour player during the 2008/9 season.

In June 2025, Craigie was awarded with a new two-year WST tour card for the 2025/26 and 2026/27 seasons on medical grounds.
