China’s Xu Si achieved his best result to date as a professional at the 2017 Indian Open by reaching the semi-finals just months after joining the World Snooker Tour for the first time.
Victories over Michael Georgiou, Robin Hull, Sean O’Sullivan, Ricky Walden and David Gilbert saw Xu record a career-best run before losing out to John Higgins in the last four.
After dropping off the circuit at the end of the 2018/19 season however, Xu would immediately regain his main tour place by successfully winning five matches at Q School Event 1 in Wigan.
In November 2023, Xu compiled the first maximum break of his career in the UK Championship qualifiers against Ma Hailong and, three months later, rose to a career-high ranking of 55th.
Twelve months later, Xu compiled his second maximum break and first on home soil during the International Championship against Ryan Day.
Prior to turning professional Xu had already competed at the wildcard round of several ranking event tournaments, notably defeating Mark Williams at the 2016 International Championship to reach the last 32 before losing to James Wattana.
