Adam Lilley defeated Ian Muir 6-0 in the final of the 2024 New Zealand National Snooker Championship to win the title for the first time in his career.

Organised by the New Zealand Billiards & Snooker Association (NZBSA), the event saw 70 cueists head to Cuthberts Green in Christchurch, New Zealand to compete for the prestigious national crown.

Lilley qualified from his initial group phase with a clean sweep of victories and then battled past Corien Simpson and Lawrence Millingon to reach the quarter-finals, where he comfortably whitewashed Des Wilcox to set up a last four meeting with Rob Redgrove.

Redgrove, who lifted a WPBSA Q Tour Asia-Pacific title last season, rallied from 3-1 behind in the best-of-nine frame contest to level the game but Lilley ultimately proved too strong and took the last two to secure his place in the title match.

His final opponent would be Muir, who had held his nerve in three consecutive final frame deciders to reach the semi-finals before overcoming Riley James 5-2 in the last four.

Lilley won two tight early frames to take an early lead in the final and then hit his stride with breaks of 99 and 63 to open up a 4-0 advantage.

There was no way back for Muir from there and Lilley took the next two to complete a 6-0 victory and lift his national title for the first time.
