Chang Maximum Breaks 147s Record

Home » Chang Maximum Breaks 147s Record

Chang Bingyu made the first 147 of his career during his Victorian Plumbing UK Championship qualifying match against Stephen Maguire, bringing the total of maximums this season to a record 16.

The previous record of 15 147s in a single season, set in 2024/25, has now been broken, with over five months of the 2025/26 campaign still to come.

China’s Chang made his perfect break in frame seven of his third round match against Maguire to take a 4-3 lead, completing the 147 with a superb pot on the final black, a thin cut using the rest. The match ended in disappointment for Chang as he lost 6-5, but he will share the £15,000 high break prize with Liam Pullen (who scored a maximum on Saturday) unless it is equalled again. And one more maximum for Chang in the majors this season could earn him a £147,000 bonus.

It’s the 233rd maximum in snooker history.

Ronnie O’Sullivan, Thepchaiya Un-Nooh and Aaron Hill have all made two 147s this term, while ten other players have made one each.
