Peter Gilchrist defeated Robbie Chilcott 978-589 in the final of the 2024 Queensland Open.
The World Billiards level three ranking event was staged at Redcliffe Club in Redcliffe, Australia and was the first to take place since last month’s World Billiards Championship.
The field featured 32 competitors and Gilchrist, the world number two, lived up to his top seed status by picking up a trio of comfortable group phase victories by an aggregate scoreline of 1,805-475 and also compiled the tournament high break of 249 during this stage.
A contribution of 242 helped Gilchrist to a comfortable win over Sam Chung in the first knockout round, before he secured further victories against Grant Hayward and Steve Burford to reach the title match.
His opponent in the final was Australian cueist Chilcott who, on home soil, had earned knockout stage victories against Chee Yap, Jayden Dinga and Simon Scerri.
The world number 77 proved no match for Gilchrist on this occasion, however, has the man representing Singapore compiled breaks of 131, 152 and 118 en route to lifting the title in Redcliffe.
The next World Billiards ranking event is the British Open, which takes place at Club 200 in Manchester, England on 30 November to 1 December.
