The draw for the group stages of the 2017 WLBS Paul Hunter Women’s Classic is now available.
The tournament returns to Furth, Germany for a second year from 24-27 August with top stars including Reanne Evans, Ng On Yee and Maria Catalano aiming to lift the silverware at the end of the week.
The trio will be among an international field which includes five of the world’s top six players, including ranking event winners and several of the most promising up and coming juniors on the Tour. In total, nine different countries will be represented, including Germany, the UK, Hong Kong and India.
In a change to the event format this year, the top two seeded players (Reanne Evans and Ng On Yee) have been seeded straight through to the knockout rounds. The remaining 25 players have been drawn into seven round robin groups, from which the top two finishers will qualify for the last 16 stage.
The group stage draw was carried out by World Snooker referee Maike Kessler and tournament director Jurgen Kessler on 12 August 2017, with the top seven ranked players (excluding Evans and On Yee), seeded and kept apart in the draw.
As in 2016, the early rounds will take place at the Ballroom Nurnberg, with the semi-finals and final set to be contested alongside the professional Paul Hunter Classic event by World Snooker at the Stadthalle in Furth.
The tournament is the first event of the 2017/18 World Women’s Snooker Tour, organised by World Ladies Billiards and Snooker under the auspices of the WPBSA, snooker’s world governing body.
