Igor Figueiredo defeated Claudio Menechini 5-1 to win the first WPBSA Q Tour Americas event of the season in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The former professional and 2024 World Seniors Snooker Championship winner came through the field on home soil to win the second Q Tour title of his career.

Organised by the Pan-American Billiards & Snooker Association (PABSA), the event began with a group phase which saw Figueiredo successfully advance without dropping a single frame in contests against Ronald Cortese, Peter King, Lawrence Barbosa and Henrique Faria.

Fellow former professional Itaro Santos was his opponent in the last 16, but Figueiredo was once again the dominant player as he secured a 3-0 victory before completing further whitewash wins against Ricardo Bouwman and Ricardo Santana to reach the title match.

Menechini, a winner on the Q Tour Americas series last season, was the first player to take a frame off Figueiredo during the best-of-nine frame final but he ultimately proved no match for the 47-year-old cueist as he earned the title with a 5-1 victory.
