Florian Nuessle defeated Thomas Janszo 5-2 to win a record-breaking seventh consecutive Austrian National Championship in Vienna.
The country’s top 24 players based on the Austrian Snooker League rankings gathered at the Austrian Snooker Academy in Vienna to compete for the national title.
Nuessle stormed to the final without dropping a frame, earning 4-0 victories over Patrick Ruß, 13-year-old Lukas Stötzer and Paul Schopf.
The 22-year-old, who made the tournament high break of 101, met sixth-ranked Janszo in the final and it was his opponent who took the opening frame of the contest to leave Nuessle trailing for the first time in the event.
At the mid-session interval, it remained a close contest with the scoreline at 2-2. However, the defending champion stepped up a gear after the players returned and breaks of 75 and 63 helped Nuessle secure his seventh consecutive title.
