Adam Nijiati defeated Hasanain Alsultani 5-4 at the PABSA Snooker Academy in San Jose, USA to win the first WPBSA Q Tour Americas title of his career.

The American won through a field of 24 players to become the third different winner of a Q Tour Americas event during the 2025/26 campaign – following Brazilian double-champion Igor Figueiredo and Alan Whitfield from Canada.

Nijiati began the three-day event strongly with a whitewash win over compatriot Paul Richardson, before showing his battling qualities to come through a dramatic deciding frame against Sargon Isaac to reach the quarter-final stage.

Andy McCloskey, a former Q Tour Americas event winner, was up next but he proved to be no match for the Q Tour debutant as Nijiati won through as a 4-1 victor before downing Peter Du by the same scoreline to reach his maiden title match.

Alsultani, who had previously competed in the Q Tour Global Play-Offs in 2024, awaited him in the final after he had beaten Ryan Irons (4-0), Nitin Mehta (4-2) and Ajeya Prabhakar (4-2) to reach this stage.

The concluding match in San Jose was a closely-fought contest but it was Nijiati who once again held his nerve to get over the line and secure his maiden Q Tour title.

The WPBSA Q Tour Global Play-Offs will take place on 15-17 March in Gandia, Spain. Further details will be announced in due course.
