Ireland’s Aaron Hill stunned the snooker world at the 2020 European Masters when he defeating reigning world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan 5-4 in the second round during his debut season.
He made his televised debut at the Shoot Out in February 2020, defeating Robbie McGuigan and world number eight Kyren Wilson to reach the last 32.
Hill’s best run came at the 2023 Wuhan Open, where victories over Joe Perry, Ben Woollaston, Martin O’Donnell and He Guoqiang saw him reach a ranking event quarter-final for the first time.
The Irishman had previously turned professional for the first time at the start of the 2020/21 season by winning the EBSA European Under-21 Championship in Portugal.
A talented junior, Hill also won the European Under-18 title in both 2019 and 2020, reaching the semi-finals of the World Snooker Junior Federation Championship, losing to England’s Sean Maddocks.
