Bio

China’s Gao Yang earned a return to the World Snooker Tour (WST) by winning the 2025 World Snooker Federation (WSF) Championship title in Saïdia, Morocco.

A 5-3 victory over Malta’s Brian Cini saw him secure the title to become the first player to win both the WSF Open and Junior titles, following his success in the inaugural WSF Junior Championship in 2020.

Aged just 15, the Chinese player defeated England’s Sean Maddocks 5-2 in Malta to secure his first tour nomination. In 2024, he reached the final of the Open event for the first time before losing out to Bulcsú Révész.

Gao had previously competed at the 2019 World Open as a wildcard player, losing his opening match 5-1 to Lu Ning. During his rookie season on tour, Gao reached the last 64 stage of four ranking events and in 2022 reached his maiden last 32 at the German Masters.
