Lim Kok Leong defeated former professional Gao Yang in the final round of the Asia-Oceania Q School to secure professional status for the first time.

The Malaysian cueist beat Liang Xialong to reach the concluding match, where he dramatically overcame Gao in a deciding frame.

In 2022, Lim was the runner-up at the South East Asian Games – losing to James Wattana in the title match. Twelve months later, he picked up the bronze medal in the same event after losing out to Sunny Akani in the last four.
