China’s Xu Yichen dramatically won a black ball shoot out to to secure his place on the World Snooker Tour (WST) for the first time via the 2025 Asia/Oceania Q School.
Having earlier defeated former professional Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon, Xu then defeated Pakistan’s Babar Masih 4-3 on the last black to earn professional status for the first time in his career at the age of 38.
Xu previously competed at a wildcard at the 2016 Shanghai Masters where he lost 5-0 to Stephen Maguire, who compiled a 147 break during the contest.
