Karthik Ramaswamy beat Dinesh Bajaj 432-263 to win the World Billiards Queensland Open in Redcliffe, Australia.
The three-day event saw 22 players competing for the level three ranking event title and it was the world number 37 from Singapore who came out on top at the Redcliffe Snooker Club.
A clean sweep of five group stage victories put Ramaswamy into the quarter-finals where he then overcame Australia’s Chee Yap 312-268 with a top break of 71.
Contributions of 41, 44 and 73 helped the eventual champion past Jayden Dinga in the semi-finals to set up a title match meeting with India’s Bajaj.
The two finalists were the only non-Australian cueists in the field and both were aiming for their maiden World Billiards ranking event titles heading into the 120 minute final.
Ramaswamy, who was the tournament’s top seed, ultimately managed to get over the line by a 169 point winning margin to take home the Queensland Open title.
The World Billiards season continues with the British Open at the Cue Sports Academy in Torquay, England on 29-30 November.
