Noppon Saengkham became the first player to make a 147 in the new Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters – and is in line to earn a bumper £50,000 bonus.

Saengkham’s perfect break came in the opening frame of his third round match against Amir Sarkhosh, which he won 4-1 in Riyadh. It’s the third 147 of his career and he has made the last two official maximums, having compiled another in the World Championship qualifiers at the end of last season.

The 32-year-old Thai is in line to win the £50,000 prize for a 147 in this event, which would be the highest pay-day of his career. If another player equals the break, the prize will be shared.

And there is an even bigger bonus up for grabs as any player making two maximums in the majors this season will bank an extra £147,000. That means he has the remainder of this event in Riyadh, plus the UK Championship, Masters (if he qualifies) and World Championship to make one more 147 and earn the massive pay-day.

Saengkham’s break today is the first maximum of the 2024/25 season and 203rd in snooker history.
