A new official online map of English snooker clubs is launching this week to make it easier for new players to find their nearest venue.
The new website will display over 700 locations to play snooker and billiards across the country. It will particularly feature 35 recommended clubs that are putting in place new standards of safeguarding, welfare and coaching provision through affiliation with the national 147 Club scheme.
It is all part of a drive by the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB) to widen participation by showcasing facilities and promoting opportunities to play in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Users of the club finder can enter a postcode for directions to clubs in their area. The database offers contact details for each club, plus the number of snooker tables available. More detailed information is included for those venues affiliated to the 147 Club scheme.
WPBSA Chairman Jason Ferguson said: “It’s very exciting to promote this new tool. We know that people predominantly look online to find a club and this will give them the information they need to explore what’s out there. The substantial number of venues we’ve included shows that there are many places to try our sport and to become a regular player.”
WPBSA Club and Facilities Manager Bob Hill added: “This essential tool gives a platform to EPSB-affiliated clubs that are reaching new standards and following national governing body guidance. It offers a fantastic means for players of all ages, as well as schools and community groups, to locate a club in which to learn and play our wonderful sport.”
