The English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB) is today celebrating its inclusion in Sport England’s cross-sport kitemark scheme – Clubmark.

Clubmark is Sport England’s national accreditation scheme for high-quality community sports clubs.

Over the past 13 months, 44 snooker clubs have joined the EPSB’s 147 Club scheme, meeting minimum standards for a safe and family-friendly club. Clubmark offers a further step to any affiliated club wanting to comprehensively showcase higher standards of welfare, equity, coaching and management.

Affiliated clubs will now be able to register with Clubmark and complete four sections of an online portfolio, against a series of criteria for running a high-quality club.

A Clubmark assessor will support clubs through the process.

Clubs stand to gain some superb benefits by achieving Clubmark status, such as:

  • Recognition – standing out in your region as the go-to club
  • Safe environment – a robust model for a safe place to play sport
  • Efficiency – better operating procedures to maximise success
  • Standards – high-quality delivery across the club

WPBSA Sport Development Manager Chris Hornby is an advocate of clubs achieving Clubmark status. He said: “The opportunity for snooker clubs to attain Clubmark is a fantastic development for our sport in England.

“Cue sport facilities that are well-managed, with the right policies and procedures regarding safeguarding and diversity, can be the foundation of local communities.

“Those clubs and venues that actively look to grow and maintain their memberships in clean, family-friendly environments can now gain the rightful recognition and reap the benefits Clubmark offers.”
