Teachers from Sheffield’s primary, secondary and specialist schools attended part one of the WPBSA World Snooker Coach Coaching Certificate recently as part of the 2015/16 Sheffield Cue Zone into Schools Championship.
Teaching representatives spent the day with six time World Snooker Champion Steve Davis and leading coach Andrew Highfield, receiving tuition on how to deliver the basics of snooker within a school environment.
Chris Lovell and Steve Mallender delivered specific sessions on how to set up and deliver Cue Zone into School, how to organise tournaments within a school setting, together with how to play Functional Snooker and embed it within the school curriculum.
Richard Heggarty from Mossbrook Special School, who attended the day with colleague Laura Walton, said: “We’d like to thank the team for a fantastic day and giving the group some tremendous ideas about how to use the tables effectively within school.”
Steve Davis said: “It was a great day with everyone throwing themselves into the course wholeheartedly, their enthusiasm and passion to develop snooker within the schools in Sheffield was clear to see.”
