World Confederation of Billiards Sports and UMB board member Wolfgang Rittmann has passed away on the 29th January 2016.

Wolfgang was one of the founding members when the WCBS was created back in 1992. He was an ever present on the WCBS board and was tournament director at the World Games in Duisburg in 2005.

Farouk El Barki newly elected UMB president and WCBS Vice President and Sports Director commented “Wolfgang is one of my very best friends for a long time, not only within billiards. That makes it hard for me to realise that he has passed on. There is not only friendship between us, also long mutual trust. Wolfgang dedicated his life to the billiards. He was available to help in solving any problems”.

Jason Ferguson WCBS President and WPBSA Chairman stated “I worked with Wolfgang to produce the very first World Games in Tokyo in 2001. He made a significant contribution to Billiards Sports, this is a sad loss to all and our condolences go to his family and friends”

The 68-year old CEB president had been seriously ill for several weeks. His passing is a tremendous loss for the international billiard world. All those within the WCBS send their deepest condolences to Wolfgang’s family and the UMB community.
