Carlos Correia defeated Henrique Correia (no family relation) 3-1 in the final to win the 2023 Portuguese National Snooker Championship in Curia last weekend.

Carlos Correia lifts the trophy.

Organised by the Federação Portuguesa de Bilhar, the tournament took place at the Hotel Termas da Curia and was played alongside several other cuesport events. The Championship initially featured a double elimination format and was played with 10 reds throughout, except for the final which reverted to the traditional 15 reds set-up.

A 25-year-old living in Oliveria de Azemeis, Carlos Correia made his way through to the knockout phase of the event where he defeated Guilherme Lemos 2-0 in the semi-finals.

Henrique Correia was trying to complete a unique double having won the Portugal Snooker Cup at the same venue a few days earlier. He eliminated Rui Florindo 2-1 in the other last four tie.

Carlos claimed the opening frame of the final, but Henrique took the second to level the match. However, Carlos secured the next two frames to win the title for the first time in his career.
