Australia’s Shaun Dalitz defeated compatriot Vinnie Calabrese 4-2 in the final to win the 2023 Asia Pacific Snooker & Billiards Federation 6 Red Championship.

Featuring 50 entries, the two-day event took place at the Club Marconi in the Sydney suburb of Bossley Park. Albury cueist Dalitz faced deciding frames early in the tournament as he squeezed past Steve Jay 3-2 and came from behind twice to defeat Hassan Kerde 3-2.

The 32-year-old then saw off Cale Barrett 3-1 in the quarter-finals and James Mifsud 3-2 in the last four.

Two-time Oceania Championship winner and former professional Calabrese booked his place in the title match after a 3-0 success against Adrian Ridley in the semi-finals.

Calabrese secured the opening frame of the final with the help of a 42 break although Dalitz won the next three frames to move one away from glory. A 69 break in frame five meant that Calabrese reduced his arrears, but Dalitz completed the task in frame six.

Dalitz will be integrated into the next edition of the 6-Red World Championship which is set to take place in Bangkok, Thailand between March 4-9, 2024.
