End Of The Roda For Thor

Filipino Jefrey Roda scored a narrow 4-3 win to end former professional Thor Chuan Leong’s hopes of a return to the World Snooker Tour at Asia-Oceania Q School in Bangkok.

Roda hails from a country famed for producing legendary pool players, such as Efren Reyes, but nobody from the Philippines has ever graced snooker’s top table as a professional. The 22-year-old’s deciding frame defeat of Malaysia’s Thor, means he is now just three wins away from the circuit. Roda’s next assignment is Iranian Ehsan Heydari Nezhad in the last 16.

Thailand’s former professional’s Dechawat Poomjaeng and Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn booked their respective last 16 spots. Poomjaeng beat Chee Keong Chan 4-1 and now faces Muhammad Akhtar, while Lertsattayathorn defeated Alvin Barbero 4-0 to set up a tie against compatriot Anekthana Sangnil.

The event runs until Saturday, with the two finalists to earn a two-year tour card. Follow results here.
